Community Guidelines

Maktabi connects property owners, renters, coworking operators, and entrepreneurs across Egypt. These guidelines help keep the platform safe, trustworthy, and useful for everyone.

1. Be Respectful

Treat every member of the community with respect. We do not tolerate:

  • Harassment, hate speech, or threats of any kind
  • Discrimination based on religion, gender, nationality, race, or disability
  • Personal attacks, insults, or intimidation
  • Sharing other users' personal information without consent

2. Be Honest & Accurate

Trust is the foundation of Maktabi. Always provide truthful information:

  • List only properties you have the legal right to advertise
  • Use real photos that accurately represent the space
  • Keep prices, availability, and amenities up to date
  • Do not impersonate other people, businesses, or brands
  • Do not submit fake or paid reviews

3. Acceptable Content

All content you post — including listings, photos, descriptions, reviews, and startup profiles — must:

  • Be relevant to the platform's purpose (workspace, real estate, startups)
  • Comply with Egyptian law and applicable regulations
  • Respect intellectual property and copyright
  • Be free of nudity, sexual content, violence, or graphic material
  • Be free of spam, scams, or misleading promotions

4. Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited on Maktabi:

  • Listing illegal, unsafe, or unauthorized properties
  • Soliciting payments outside the platform to evade fees or protections
  • Phishing, fraud, or any attempt to steal user credentials or money
  • Posting malware, viruses, or harmful links
  • Scraping, reverse-engineering, or abusing our APIs
  • Creating multiple accounts to manipulate ratings or visibility
  • Promoting unrelated commercial services or products

5. Communication

When messaging landlords, renters, or other users:

  • Keep conversations professional and on-topic
  • Respond to inquiries in a reasonable timeframe
  • Do not send unsolicited advertising or repeat messages
  • Report any abusive or suspicious behavior to us

6. Reviews & Ratings

Reviews help others make informed decisions. Please:

  • Share only experiences you personally had
  • Be specific, fair, and constructive
  • Avoid offensive language or personal attacks
  • Do not exchange reviews for compensation or favors

7. Reporting Violations

If you see a listing, message, review, or user that violates these guidelines, please report it to us via WhatsApp at +20 155 451 5541. We review every report and take appropriate action.

8. Enforcement

When guidelines are violated, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Remove the offending content
  • Issue a warning to the user
  • Temporarily restrict account features
  • Permanently suspend the account
  • Cooperate with law enforcement when required

9. Updates

These guidelines may evolve as the community grows. We encourage you to review them periodically. Continued use of Maktabi means you accept the latest version.
