1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Maktabi (“we,” “our,” or “us”) at maktabi.app and our mobile applications (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Maktabi is a platform that connects users with business spaces (offices, clinics, warehouses, and more), coworking spaces, and startup investment opportunities in Egypt. We provide tools for property owners to list spaces, for renters to discover and book workspaces, and for entrepreneurs to showcase startups seeking investment.

3. Account Registration

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Property Listings

For Property Owners

If you list a property on Maktabi, you represent and warrant that:

  • You have the legal right to list the property for rent
  • All information provided about the property is accurate and not misleading
  • Images uploaded are genuine representations of the property
  • The property complies with all applicable local laws and regulations
  • Pricing information is accurate and up to date

For Renters

When using the Service to find or book spaces, you acknowledge that:

  • Maktabi acts as a platform connecting landlords and renters, and is not a party to any lease or rental agreement
  • You are responsible for verifying the suitability of a property before entering into any agreement
  • All rental agreements are between you and the property owner

5. Coworking Bookings & Payments

When booking coworking spaces through the Service:

  • All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation
  • Payments are processed through our integrated payment provider
  • Cancellation and refund policies are determined on a per-space basis
  • You agree to abide by the rules and policies of the coworking space you book

6. Startup Tank

If you submit a startup to the Startup Tank feature:

  • You represent that you are authorized to share the startup information
  • The information provided is accurate and not fraudulent
  • Maktabi does not guarantee any investment or funding outcomes
  • Maktabi is not liable for any investment decisions made through the platform
  • All interactions between startups and potential investors are at their own risk

7. Managed Property Services

Maktabi offers a managed property service where we handle the listing and management of properties on behalf of owners. Specific terms, fees, and conditions for managed services will be agreed upon separately between Maktabi and the property owner. Submitting a managed property request does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

8. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content
  • Upload harmful, offensive, or inappropriate material
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Use automated tools to scrape or collect data from the Service
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users

We reserve the right to block or terminate accounts that violate these conduct rules without prior notice.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding user-submitted content), features, and functionality are owned by Maktabi and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

By uploading content (such as property images, descriptions, or startup information), you grant Maktabi a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with the Service.

10. Reviews & Ratings

When submitting reviews or ratings on the Service:

  • Reviews must be honest and based on genuine experiences
  • You may not submit fake or incentivized reviews
  • We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these terms
  • Property owners may not retaliate against users for honest reviews

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Maktabi and its operators shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Any loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
  • Any damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service
  • Any disputes between landlords and renters, or between startups and investors
  • The accuracy or completeness of any property listing or startup profile
  • Any unauthorized access to your account

Maktabi acts as an intermediary platform and is not responsible for the quality, safety, or legality of any listed properties or services.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy of property listings, user profiles, or startup information displayed on the platform.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maktabi, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to a breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. All provisions of these Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Egypt.

16. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
